Helping Animals, one at a time...
Since 2001, Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter has helped the City of Warwick, Rhode Island, and the Warwick Municipal Shelter provide a humane place for homeless cats and dogs. Each year, the Warwick Animal Shelter cares for hundreds of stray and unwanted dogs and cats until a loving home can be found. A list of available cats and dogs can be seen on PetFinder.
Spaying and Neutering...
Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter supports spaying and neutering of all cats and dogs to help end the pet overpopulation problem. Every adopted dog and cat is spayed or neutered before leaving the Warwick Animal Shelter.
Rhode Island State Law mandates all owned cats be spayed or neutered. Twice a month, the Warwick Animal Shelter hosts a low cost spay/neuter clinic for cats only. If you would like to schedule an appointment for your cat at the low-cost clinic, please call the shelter at 401-468-4377
Please spay and neuter your pets!
Volunteering will save a life...
Volunteers work in and out of the shelter. If you love animals, the animals need your help. Spend as little as an hour every week walking a dog, brushing a cat, or simply socializing an animal. Help organize a fundraiser or promote adoptable animals to the community. There are many ways to help!
Join us at our monthly meetings held at the Warwick Public Library. Visit the library’s web site at www.warwicklibrary.org for dates and times. You can help save a life.
The animals need your help...
Friends is supported by private donations and fundraising events. Friends is an all-volunteer organization; donations are directly used to help the animals.
Annual fundraising events include our Spring Breakfast, Classic Car Show, Fall Pasta Dinner, Pet Photos with Santa, candy and bake sales, and of course, the Hot Chocolate and Cookies night at the Rowland Family Christmas Display!
Come to our monthly meetings for more information! You can help save a life.
What can you do...?
Come and meet the shelter animals. Become a volunteer. You can help by donating wet dog and cat food, new or gently used hand and bath towels, dog collars, leashes, crates, cat carriers, or simply make a tax deductible donation. Your time, compassion, special talents or expertise can be used to help save an animal’s life.
Friends Vision for the Warwick Animal Shelter...
Friends is committed to a humane, healthy, and happy environment for the animals in the Warwick Animal Shelter. Throughout the year, volunteers meet with shelter staff to discuss how to improve the shelter.
In previous years fundraising efforts have outfitted the dogs’ kennel room and quarantine room with central air conditioning, installed a surveillance camera system, built an outdoor playpen for the dogs, purchased additional cat cages and provided veterinary care and spay/neuter services to shelter animals. Friends have purchased grooming shears, dog collars, food, and medicines.
Friends vision is no more homeless pets - please support their efforts!
